If you’re planning on traveling this Holiday Season, here is a list of “In Flight Essentials ” that I recommend having with you. I’ve already been traveling so much lately , flying to New York for Fashion Week , visiting my hubby on the road at the MLB Playoffs in Tampa/St. Petersburg & New York City and then again, for The World Series Games in Washington D.C. I also just had an impromptu trip back to Cincinnati, so I’ve got the ” in flight essentials” down to a science!

The first thing that I do when I board a plane is use my hand sanitatizing wipes to clean my seatbelt, arm rest, tray table and seat back. Hundreds of hands have all touched these places before me and the way the Airlines turn these flights over so quickly, I know they’re not taking the time to clean or disinfect it! I’ve even been on several flights where I’ve opened the tray table and found food crumbs and coffee stains already on it. Eww. I’m just saying , imagine all of the germs we’re NOT seeing in the form of food crumbs or coffee stains! These handy wipes kill the germs, clean the surface and give me peace of mind. While we’re on the subject of germs, I always carry a cold-eeze, just in case I feel a twitch in my nose after the person next to me has sneezed 3 times. Ialso bring my own bottle of water and an Emergencee to help load up on Vitamin C and extra immune defense, as we’re all breathing the same recycled air for hours. It really helps.
The air on flights can be so drying, so here are a few skincare tips to help with that. These 3 things are essential : a hand lotion, lip balm and plenty of fluids! I like Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask because I can use it on my face as a deep moisturizer, as well as my hands . It is very moisturizing and doesn’t have a strong scent that will bother the person next to me. For lips I like Fresh Sugar lip treatment and reapply it often during the flight. On long or extra dry flights, I love to spritz my face with Caudelie’s beauty elixir . It’s very refreshing and gives you a bit of a glow.
If you’d like to get some rest during your flight, packing earplugs and an eye mask, is a good idea. If not, bring headphones to drown out noise or to watch a movie. Also, I pack Benadryl as a safety precaution in case of an allergic reaction ( you never know if you’ll be sitting next to someone with a pet, lol …me !) or if I’m on a red eye, then this will help me sleep and breathe better. I still enjoy looking through magazines and relaxing during the flight, but my mind is constantly coming up with new ideas, so a notebook and pen are a must for me. I pack a large scarf that doubles as a blanket, in case the flight is chilly & dress in layers, in case it gets too hot. Oh , I almost forgot …socks! I carry these to put on my feet to walk through security, since they make you take off your shoes. Who wants to walk on a cold floor? I also take my shoes off during the flight and put these cozy , fluffy socks on to get more comfortable. Another thing I would recommend bringing is gum to chew for take off and landing( so that your ears don’t pop). Breath mints (to offer the person next to you who just inhaled that onion bagel !) or Listerine breath strips are a good idea, as well.

If you’re into beauty, these suggestions may help you. I usually like to have a few quick make up essentials that are easy to apply and small enough to carry on. I do this as we’re landing, to occupy the time we land and the long wait between circling gates and deboarding the plane! I will already have my Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask on, as well as eyeliner & eyebrow pencil. So now I’ll only have to use my small sample of foundation .(Sephora will make you a sample of the foundation you wear) Or, If my skin isn’t too dry , IT Cosmetics powder foundation. Again, I will already have used Anastasia brow definer & my eyeliner before the flight. Marc Jacobs makes the best eyeliner. It lasts until you take it off and it doesn’t smudge. Next, I just found this mini sized nude palette eyeshadow kit from Natasha Denona and I love it for travel. My favorite mascara is still L’oreal Voluminous mascara. I use Pat McGrath lip liner and a little Patrick Ta gloss over that to give my lips a bit of shine without being sticky. I also carry a tiny sample of my fragrance (another sample from Sephora ) to spritz on before I greet my family, friends or coworkers after a long flight.

These are my travel and beauty essentials. I hope this helps you on your next journey. If you don’t want to bother with the make up part, a big pair of sunglasses always work! Leave me a comment and let me know if these helped or if you have any suggestions I may need to try . Safe travels!
